MVC Winter Sports Season Updates / Honors



Congratulations to Seven Hills' Greg Kalin, Tim Kalin, and the Stingers' 400 free and 200 medley relays for being our first winter season State qualifiers!  Greg won the 100 back and 100 fly at Districts, while Tim advanced to State as runner-up in the 100 back.  Joining Greg and Tim on both the 400 free and 200 medley relay was George Eng and Spencer Boyd.  At-large qualifiers include Seven Hills' George Eng (200 IM and 100 breast), Tim Kalin (100 fly), Spencer Boyd (100 free), and Greg Kalin (100 back), as well as Cincinnati Country Day's Sam Pettengill (50 free and 100 breast).  Complete State Meet results can be found HERE.

In girls' swimming, Seven Hills' Emma Shuppert qualified for the State Championships in two individual events - the 100 back (District Champion) and the 200 free (District runner-up).  The Lady Stingers also advanced in the 200 medley and 400 free relays as District Champions.  Joining Emma on those relays were Jocelyn Spanbauer, Claire Harrison, and Ella Jo Piersma (200 medley relay) and Jocelyn, Ella Jo, and Dottie Callard (400 free relay).  CHCA's Jessey Li (below) advanced in the 100 breast with her runner-up finish.  At-large qualifiers include Seven Hills' Ella Jo Piersma (100 and 200 free), Jocelyn Spanbauer (200 free and 100 fly), Emma Shuppert (200 IM), Dottie Callard (200 IM and 500 free); Cincinnati Country Day's Grace Ramirez (100 and 200 free); and CHCA's Jessey Li (100 free and 100 breast).  Complete State Meet results can be found HERE.

In girls' bowling, Cincinnati Christian’s Crystal Wilson advanced to the State Bowling Tournament after her third place finish at Districts!  At State, Crystal finished 41st overall.  Complete individual results can be found HERE.  Congratulations Crystal!

Congratulations to Miami Valley Christian Academy's Seth Henderson for advancing to the State Wrestling Tournament after winning the District Championship at 160 lbs.  Troy District results can be found HERE, while the Wilmington District results are HERESeth finished his high school career as a two-time MVC Champion, two-time MVC Wrestler of the Year, four-time District qualifier, DIII District Champion in 2019, and three-time State qualifier!


BOYS' BASKETBALL:  Clark Montessori downed CHCA in the regular season finale to win the Scarlet Division title with a fine 13-3 record.  Scarlet Division Player of the Year honors went to CHCA's Cole Fisher, while Clark MNontessori's Wally Vickers garnered Coach of the Year honors.  In the Gray Division, Cincinnati Christian and Seven Hills will share the crown, as the Stingers defeated the Cougars on the last game of the regular season.  Read more HERE.  Player of the Year recognition went to Seven Hills' Brice Hill and Coach of the Year honors went to the Stingers' Willie Hill.   POSTSEASON UPDATES:   Cincinnati Christian, New Miami, and Clark Montessori finished their seasons as District runners-up!  Cincinnati Christian fell to Fort Loramie, New Miami saw its dream season end against Springfield Central Catholic.  Clark Montessori battled top-seeded Anna 68-59 to finish its season at 16-9.  POSTSEASON HONORS:  The following players earned All-District honors:  SECOND TEAM:  Cincinnati Christian's Logan Woods and Seven Hills' Brice Hill; THIRD TEAM:  Cincinnati Christian's Cameron Rogers and Summit Country Day's Rylan Woods; HONORABLE MENTION:  Norwood's Kevin English; Summit Country Day's Terry Evans; Cincinnati Country Day's Matthew Adkins; Clark Montessori's Myles Faison, D'Shawnti Hawkins, and Marlin Lyons; St. Bernard's TJ Grove; North College Hill's Cameron Harris and Tyree Robinson; New Miami's Deanza Duncan and Jordan Robinette; MVCA's Joe Lusby and Aaron McCoy; Cincinnati Christian's KJ Swain; and Seven Hills' Curtis Harrison.  Special shout out to Cincinnati Christian's Carl Woods for earning DIV Coach of the Year recognition.  ALL-STATE:  Cincinnati Christian's Logan Woods and Seven Hills' Brice Hill were named to the OPSWA All-Ohio basketball team!  See complete list HERE.

Seven Hills' Brice Hill Eclipses 1000-Point Mark

Congratulations to the Stingers' Brice Hill for scoring his 1000th point in a game at St. Bernard on December 7.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL:  Cincinnati Country Day (15-1) captured the Scarlet Division championship.  It is the Lady Indians' first title since the 2011-12 season.  Scarlet Division Player of the Year honors went to Summit Country Day's Rachel Martin, while Cincinnati Country Day's John Snell earned Coach of the Year honors.  St. Bernard is the surprise team in the Gray Division, finishing with a 12-4 record and will share the title with Clark Montessori.  This is the Lady Titans’ first Championships since the 2014-15 season and the Lady Cougars fifth straight crown.  Gray Division Player of the Year recognition went to Clark Montessori's Dasia Thornton and the Lady Cougars' Krystal Burnett earned Coach of the Year accolades.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Cincinnati Country Day fell to Tri-Village in the District Finals to finish a remarkable season at 20-5.  POSTSEASON HONORS:  Shout out to the following players who earned All-District recognition:  FIRST TEAM:  Cincinnati Country Day's Sabrina Delbello; SECOND TEAM:  Clark Montessori's Dasia Thornton; HONORABLE MENTION:  CHCA's Bella Answini and Skylar Beavers; Summit Country Day's Rachel Martin and Bryana Woodward; Seven Hills' Laura Shuppert; MVCA's Alecea Grosjean; Cincinnati Christian's Miranda Heid and Caila Nagel; Cincinnati Country Day's Kamryn Jordan; and Clark Montessori's Zion WrightALL-STATE:  Cincinnati Country Day's Sabrina Delbello and Clark Montessori's Dasia Thornton were named to the OPSWA All-Ohio basketball squads!  See complete list HERE.

Henderson Earns 100th Career Victory

Congratulations to MVCA's Seth Henderson for picking up his 100th career win at the Sycamore Invitational on January 18.  Seth is the reigning Miami Valley Conference Wrestler of the Year!
