MVC Fall Sports Season Updates / Honors

FOOTBALL:  Congratulations to CHCA and to Dayton Christian for winning MVC Divisional titles this fall.  Both squads completed their divisional schedule with perfect 5-0 records.  For CHCA, it was the school's fourth straight title, and the second MVC title for Dayton Christian in the last three years.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Congratulations to CHCA and to Dayton Christian for advancing to the State playoffs!  CHCA won its first round game against Greeneview before falling to Madison in second round play, while Dayton Christian lost in the first round but finished its season with a fine 9-2 record.  ALL-DISTRICT:  First Team Division V All-District honors went to CHCA's Danny Vanatsky, Mason Bernhardt, Ryan Wichman, and Alex Barnard; and Summit Country Day's Xavier Johnson, Michael Warden, and Jack McDowell.  Second Team recognition went to Clark Montessori's Alex Schaefer and Keith Fisher; CHCA's Darian Wood; and Summit's Joe Collins and Amir Johnson.  Honorable Mention honors went to Clark's Noah Mason and Summit's Connor Woodruff.  First Team Division VI honors went to Dayton Christian's Tywon Berry, Shawn VanNoy(Offensive Player of the Year), JT Thornhill, Seth Yunker, and David Moyer; St. Bernard's Kevan Ridley, Armanie White, and Tyreke King; and Cincinnati Country Day's Patrick Magarian and Connor Pohl.  Dayton Christian's Trevor Warren and St. Bernard's Luke Wiederhold earned Honorable Mention accolades.  First Team Division VII honors went to Miami Valley Christian Academy's Joseph Lusby, New Miami's Danny Spivey, and Cincinnati College Prep Academy's Jaylin Anderson and Mylan Hall.  Honorable Mention accolades went to New Miami's Ronnie Bowman and MVCA's Ryan Kozak, Caleb Lusby, and Sam SmithALL-STATE:  Congratulations to the following All-Ohio honorees in Division V:  CHCA's Ryan Wichmann, Danny Vanatsky, Mason Bernhardt, and Alex Bernard, as well as Summit Country Day's Xavier Johnson, Michael Warden, and Jack McDowell.  Division VI selections included Dayton Christian's Shawn VanNoy, Tywon Berry, Seth Yunker, JT Thornhill, and David Moyer; St. Bernard's Tyreke King, Armanie White, and Kevan Ridley; and Cincinnati Country Day's Connor Pohl and Patrick Magarian.  Division VII recipients included Cincinnati College Prep Academy's Jaylin Anderson and Mylan Hall; MVCA's Joseph Lusby; and New Miami's Danny Spivey.

BOYS' GOLF:  Summit Country Day captured the 2017 MVC boys' golf crown, their second consecutive league title.  Player of the Year honors went to Cincinnati Country Day's Jack Gardner, while Coach of the Year recognition went to the Silver Knights' Tim Jedding.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  In Division III action, both Cincinnati Country Day and Seven Hills advanced to District competition with their first and second place finish respectively at the September 26 Sectional tournament.  In addition, Cincinnati Christian's Adam Boyd and Austin Whitton qualified as individuals.  See complete DIII Sectional results HERE.  In Division II action, Summit Country Day captured the Sectional team championship, led by Sam Gosiger's 74 (co-Medlaist).  Joining the Knights at the October 9 District tourney at Beavercreek were CHCA's Jack Lindgren, Jack Sonne, and Matthew Kadnar.  See complete DII Sectional results HERESTATE BOUND:  Cincinnati Country Day and Seven Hills finished first and second respectively at the DIII District tournament and advanced to the October 13-14 State Meet!  See individual DIII District results HERE.  Summit Country Day joined Cincinnati Country Day and Seven Hills at the State Championships after finishing as the DII District Champions!  See individual DII District results HERESTATE UPDATES:  Summit Country Day finished fourth at State in the DII competition, while Seven Hills finished sixth and Cincinnati Country Day finished eighth in DIII.  Complete DII team results can be found HERE, while DIII results can be found HERE.  Shout out to the Knights' Sam Gosiger for finishing seventh in the State.

GIRLS' GOLF:  The MVC requires four teams to compete in order to crown a Conference champion.  CHCA, Cincinnati Country Day, and Summit Country Day, however, competed this fall.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Summit Country Day finished third in the September 25 Division III Sectional tournament and advanced to the October 4 District tournament at Pipestone.  See complete Division II Sectional results HERE.  The Lady Knights finished fifth in the District tourney.  Congratulations on a great season!  Complete individual District results can be found HERE.

GIRLS' TENNIS:  The 2017 MVC championship trophy will reside at Summit Country Day!  The Lady Knights won their first MVC title since the 2009-2010 school year, and broke a string of four consecutive titles by the Seven Hills Lady Stingers.  Player of the Year honors went to Summit Country Day's Elizabeth Fahrmeier and Coach of the Year accolades went to the Lady Knights' Michelle Hellman.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  The Sectional tournament was held October 4-7 with a number of MVC players advancing to Districts.  Summit Country Day's Elizabeth Fahrmeier; Seven Hills' Annika Alper, Neda Teharani and the doubles teams of Jillian Blatt and Natalie Choo and Lucy Callard and Anika Parameswaran; and Cincinnati Country Day's Abby Blum and the doubles team of Gari Midha and Mia Masterson advanced to the October 12 and 14 District tourney.  STATE BOUND:  At Districts, Summit's Elizabeth Fahrmeier was District Champ and finished fourth at the October 20-21 State Championships at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.  Seven Hills' Jillian Blatt and Natalie Choo also capped off a tremendous season with a trip to State in doubles!

BOYS' SOCCER:  Summit Country Day will be looking to defend its MVC championship this fall as well as its 2016 OHSAA State Championship!  The Silver Knights have won two consecutive State titles!  The Knights also wrapped up their third straight (and sixth in the last seven years) MVC title!  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Regional Champion Summit Country Day defeated Troy Christian 2-0 to advance to the State Final Four.  The Knights then downed Grandview Heights 3-2 to reach the State Final match-up against Ottawa Hills on November 11.  The Knights downed Ottawa Hills 1-0 to win their third straight DIII Championship!  Shout out to Summit's Harrison Schertzinger for earning OSSCA Player of the Year and First Team All-State honors!  Other All-Ohio honorees included Seven Hills' Brennan Callow and the Knights' Diego Vallota.  ALL-DISTRICT:  Division II All-Southwest honorees included CHCA's Liam Sheehy, Will Stiles, and Hunter Stemple, along with Clark Montessori's Cory Carr.  Division III recipients included Summit County Day's Harrison Schertzinger, Diego Vallota, Nick Mishu, and Brendan Ochs; Seven Hills' Brennan Callow, Carson Loring, and Ricardo Godoy; Cincinnati Country Day's Daniel Nesbitt, Tony Buechly, and Miller Lyle; and Cincinnati Christian's Alex Moore.

GIRLS' SOCCER:  Summit Country Day finished Conference play with a perfect 7-0 record and won the MVC title for the sixth time in the last eight years.  Congratulations to Player of the Year Ravin Alexander from Summit Country Day and Coach of the Year Monica Hoyles from Clark Montessori.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  The Lady Knights defeated Madeira 1-0 in the Regional Finals to advance to the State Final Four.  Summit then defeated Grandview Heights 3-1 November 7 in the State semis and Kirtland November 10 in the State Championship match to win their second State title in three years!  Summit's Ravin Alexander was named the OSSCA Player of the Year and earned First Team All-State recognition.  Other All-State recognition went to the Lady Knights' Mimi Stines and Cincinnati Country Day's Katelyn SettersALL-DISTRICT:  Division II All-District honors went to Cincinnati Country Day's Katelynn Setters and Lawson Renie; while Division III recognition went to Summit Country Day's Ravin Alexander, Mimi Stines, Colleen McIlvenna, and Lily Melink; CHCA's Laney Huber and Shannon Riley; Seven Hills' Jessica Nordlund and Maggie Kersting.

BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY:  Summit Country Day won the 2017 MVC Championship, the team's eighth in the last nine years!  Congratulations to Clark Montessori's Ryan Estes who won the race and earned Runner of the Year honors.  Individual race results can be found HERE.  Coach of the Year recognition went to Summit Country Day's Kurtis Smith.  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  The DII and DIII District Meets featured some impressive MVC performances.  In DII, Clark Montessori advanced to the Regional Meet in Troy, while the Cougars' Ryan Estes (District Champion) and Chris Canty have advanced as individuals.  In DIII, Summit Country Day won the District crown and has advanced to Regionals, while Seven Hills and Cincinnati Country Day have also advanced as teams!  Individual qualifiers include CCD's Alec Hamall (District Champion); Summit's Brian DeWine, Scott Kinross, Matthew Brumfield, Evan Lakhia, William Doran, Sean LaMacchia, and Nick Dahling; Seven Hills' Matthew Maring; MVCA's Will Stewart; and St. Bernard's Brady Abbott and Daniel HackneySTATE BOUND:  Congrats to Clark's Ryan Estes, Summit's Elijah Weaver and Brian DeWine, and Cincinnati Country Day's Alec Hamall for advancing to the State Championships!

GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY:  The Lady Knights from Summit captured the 2017 Conference Championship, their eighth in the last nine years!  The Lady Knights' Catherine Coldiron earned Runner of the Year honors with her first place finish!  Individual results can be found HERE.  Congrats to Summit's Kurtis Smith for winning Coach of the Year honors!  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Norwood's Maddie Baker has advanced to the DII Regional Meet in Troy!  In the DIII District race, Summit Country Day's Catherine Coldiron is your District Champion and moves on to tomorrow's Regional Meet in Troy.  The Lady Knights have advanced as a team by winning the District title, as have Clark Montessori and Cincinnati Country Day.  Other individual Regional qualifiers include Summit's Annie Doran; Clark's Maia Kiniyalocts and Eliza Lehman; CHCA's Kate McDonough; St. Bernard's Sophie Walden; CCD's Natalie de Beer and Abby Smith; Cincinnati Christian's Ashley Veldkamp; and MVCA's Laura Vilardo and Hannah SnyderSTATE BOUND:  Congrats to Summit's Catherine Coldiron and Norwood's Maddie Baker for advancing to the State Championships!

VOLLEYBALL:  Both the Scarlet Division and the Gray Division champions weren't decided until the final Conference match-up this fall.  CHCA captured the Scarlet Division crown with a 15-1 record, while Cincinnati Country Day won the Gray Division championship with an 8-7 mark.  Player of the Year honors went to St. Bernard's Sydney Fleak (Gray Division) and to MVCA's Payton McElfresh (Scarlet Division).  Coach of the Year accolades went to Clark Montessori's Michelle Stephenson and Cincinnati Country Day's Ashley Snell (Gray Division) and to CHCA's Lisa Schaad (Scarlet Division).  POSTSEASON UPDATES:  Congratulations to MVCA, Cincinnati Christian, and CHCA for finishing up the postseason as District runners-up!
